My Top 10 Favorite Rides at Disney's Magic Kingdom
Disney World has a countless number of rides and attractions spread across 4 theme parks. While I could talk to you forever about all the rides I love to visit during my trips, right now, I just want to look at my top 10 favorite rides in Magic Kingdom and tell you a little about each one.
- The Haunted Mansion. This ride, based on the 2003 film with the same name, is located in Liberty Square. You'll walk through the spooky graveyard as you make your way to the front of the Mansion. After entering the Mansion, you'll find yourself in the Portrait Room, where the pictures on the walls seem to stretch before your eyes! After walking through more of the mansion, you'll board a "doombuggy" that carries you through the haunted house. You'll see dancing ghosts, more portraits with eyes that seem to follow you, and a bride who is out for revenge. I love this ride; it's a must-do for my family during every trip!
- The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. This ride, based on the classic Disney movie Snow White, is a newer family-friendly rollercoaster that takes you inside the dwarfs' mine. You'll sing along with the familiar characters as they mine for diamonds. The visual effects are breathtaking, and you'll wish you had more time to experience the mine before the rollercoaster shoots you back to the outdoor part of the track.
- Splash Mountain. This ride tells the story of Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, and Br'er Bear, who are the characters from the movie Song of the South. You'll travel along with Br'er Rabbit as he outwits Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear, and you'll get to visit his "Laughing Place" at the bottom of the 49 foot drop. The songs featured in this ride - "How Do You Do?," "Everybody's Got a Laughing Place," and "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah - will be stuck in your head long after you exit the ride.
- Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. Buzz Lightyear needs your help! Accept your mission to defeat the evil Emperor Zurg on this thrilling ride. As you cruise along in your spaceship, you'll blast lasers at targets to rack up points. Will you become the Galactic Hero and save the day?
- Pirates of the Caribbean. This indoor water ride takes you through the town featured in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. Everyone is on the hunt for Jack Sparrow; keep a close watch for him throughout the ride; you'll find him peeking out of a barrel or from behind a post. Something notable about this ride is that you can smell fire as you float by the burning town.
- Peter Pan's Flight. Hop aboard a pirate ship and take an unforgettable ride, all you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust. You'll soar over the town of London, through the Darling children's bedroom, and through several scenes from the iconic Disney movie during this unforgettable ride.
- Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid. For this ride, you'll board a clamshell and go for a ride "under the sea." You'll see the classic Disney story unfold before your eyes: watch Ariel's friends try to persuade her not to go above the water; shiver as Ariel makes a deal with Ursula, the sea witch; and rejoice as Ariel reunites with her family and marries the prince.
- "It's a Small World." This slow-moving water ride takes you around the world in a matter of minutes! It made its debut at the 1964 World Fair in New York, and it opened in Disney World On October 1, 1971. One of Disney's more well-known rides, this is one you won't want to miss on your next trip to the park.
- Mickey's PhilharMagic. This 4D show features Mickey Mouse as the maestro of an orchestra. When his friend Donald Duck takes Mickey's magical sorcerer's hat and tries to conduct the orchestra himself, things go awry, and Donald loses the priceless hat. You'll follow Donald as he struggles to get Mickey's hat back, and you'll recognize a few famous scenes from classic Disney movies, including Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Aladdin.

- Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. I'm not sure whether to call this a ride or a show; it's really a little bit of both. You'll walk into the theater and find a seat. After hearing a short pre-recorded introduction, your theater rotates to the right to reveal the next stage. The whole theater is in the shape of a circle, so you move to the right to the next stage until you see all the shows. You follow the same family as they progress through they years; they tell about the new technology of the time they are living in. The last stage predicts new technology of the future (some of which has already been created!) This ride is another crowd-pleaser; it's one you won't soon forget after leaving the park!
